Vocational Scholarship for a Career in Social Care

The Vocational Scholarship is a 6-week course for anyone who is currently unemployed and looking to work in care.

The scholarship is provided by Training Now in partnership with national care provider, Agincare.

This course will cover a number of different topics which will enable you to have a good understanding of the role of a Care Worker, including the underpinning knowledge of the Care Certificate, Dementia, Stroke and Autism Awareness, as well as job-readiness skills like Interview Preparation and Work Shadowing.

We will prepare you for a guaranteed interview for a role within Agincare and give you the knowledge and experience you need to take your first steps to work in care.

Course Information

Course times:
9:30am – 3:00pm, Monday – Friday

Our Vocational Scholarship is a level 2 course. You will not get a formal qualification but you will have completed all the mandatory training that you will need to work in care.

Upon completion of the course, you will also receive a guaranteed interview for a role within Agincare. If you are successful, you will be on an Agincare Career Path which may include additional qualifications or an Apprenticeship.

– Have a good level of English
– Currently be unemployed
– Be able to commit to a 6-week course

What will I learn?

The Vocational Scholarship will cover a number of different topics which will enable you to have a good understanding of the role of a Care Worker in Agincare.

This includes the underpinning knowledge of the Care Certificate, Team working, Dementia, Stroke and Autism Awareness, Nutrition and Nourishment, End of Life Care as well as job-readiness skills like Interview Preparation, Work Shadowing, Communication, Challenging Situations and Personal Effectiveness.

How will I learn?

Depending on where you are, you may access learning online or face to face in the classroom.

You may do classroom-based learning or your tutor may set you activities and assessments online which your tutor will give you feedback on. You will also have routine meetings with your tutors so we can make sure you are making the right progress to work in care.

Are there any course costs?

No. This course is free to anyone who is unemployed and looking to work in care. Enrolment on this course does not affect your eligibility for benefits, including Universal Credit.

This course is being run by Training Now to support you to work in care. We are part of the Agincare family; one of the biggest providers of care services in the UK.
