Our Leader in Adult Care apprenticeship will guide and inspire you to make positive differences to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, psychological or intellectual challenges.
The skills, behaviours and knowledge you develop through a Leader in Adult Care apprenticeship level 5 with Training Now will be invaluable in growing your career in care.

Course Description
We will support you to become a leader of the care team and to develop and implement a values-based culture at a service or unit level. With your qualification, you may be responsible for business development, financial control, organisational resilience and continuity as well as for managing risk and leading on organisational change.
As a Leader in Adult Care, you will have responsibility for managing community or residential based services. This role has a large element of leadership, whether with other care workers and networks or in leading the service itself. A successful apprentice will meet all the requirements.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you may progress to being a registered manager of a service, unit, deputy or assistant manager. In these roles you will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance of the care given and the values and training of staff with established standards and regulations.
Leaders in Adult Care may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, community day centres, a person’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings.
The role of Leader in Adult Care in this standard also covers Personal Assistants who operate in a management role but they may only work directly for one individual who needs support and/or care services.

Entry criteria
You’ll need to:
- have the right to work in the UK.
- be 16 years or older after the last Friday in June of the academic year.
- not be enrolled on another apprenticeship, or another funded FE/HE programme at the same time as the apprenticeship.
- have a contract of employment with your employer and be paid at least the apprenticeship wage in your first year.

How will you learn
An apprenticeship is a genuine job with an accompanying assessment and skills development programme. You’ll gain valuable work experience and earn as you learn on the job.
Our e-learning platform brings the subject to life through interactive learning tools and access to complementary online resources.
As well as learning on the job, you will be allocated a Teaching and Learning Coach, who is a specialist in the field. They will support you on a one-to-one basis, with additional online tutorial support.
Qualifications
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care.
Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to completion of their Apprenticeship.
For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3 and British Sign Language qualification are an alternative to English qualifications for whom this is their primary language.
